date night

Hi all! Happy Friday! Last night was date night with my cousin, Jackie. We went to dinner and did some serious catching up. I also found out that she got a new car - and it just happens to be the same kind of car that I drive. Twins! Of course hers is newer and prettier and cleaner than mine - but whatever. :) I had such a great time and I'm already excited about the next time we get to hang out! Everything about this post makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I don't know what it is about a little sparkle that makes me so happy, but it works everytime. I never used to be much of a sparkle/glitter/sequin type of girl, but the older I get the more I love the stuff. For all of you girls out there that could use a daily dose of glittery goodness, I highly recommend subscribing to The Glitter Guide. Yesterday I went to my very first kick-boxing class with the boyfriend. I was a little nervous about it at first just because it's totally out of my comfort zone, but I actually ended up liking it!  It kicked my butt, but it was so much better than just going to the gym and spending an hour on the treadmill. I highly recommend checking out a class if you can!

I had such a good time in Oregon this weekend! The weather was amazing, I got to spend a lot of time with all of my nephews, catch up with family I hadn't seen in years, and be with everyone during my Great Grandma's memorial. I took a lot of pictures with my good camera but haven't had the chance to sort through them yet, so all you get for now are my iphone pictures. :) I'll post the others soon!

I'm leaving for Oregon tonight. I am so excited to see my family - especially my nephews. It's so crazy how fast they grow up. It's also crazy how old I just felt typing that. Gah. The reason I'm going is my great grandmother's memorial service. It will be an emotional weekend but I am so glad I can be there with everyone to celebrate her life and the memories we all have of her. I know it's only Thursday but I won't be posting again until Monday, so I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

My favorite way to add color and a little excitement to any outfit is with lip color. Until about a year ago I was only a lip gloss girl, but since purchasing my first lipstick, I have been addicted. These are the colors I am wearing right now. I decided to add a little fuchsia and coral to my collection for Spring. I love to sport a bold lip with other bold accessories or with a more neutral outfit to add interest. Either way, it's fun! If you have any color recommendations, feel free to share! :)

Today is the first official day of Spring Break 2012 - AH! I have been looking forward to this week off since Christmas break. So far my plans for the next week include: home projects, a few shopping trips, lots of cooking, some spring cleaning, and heading up to Oregon for a little visit with my family. I am so excited to see them! If you are also on Spring Break this week, I hope you have a blast and take advantage of the time off. :) Have a great rest of your Monday, everyone!

This little beauty is the newest addition to our home :) I ordered it from the ISeeNoise shop on Etsy and it's on its way to me as we speak (I just used the pictures from the website, I'll post more when it arrives). I LOVE it and I can't wait to hang it up! We've actually been working on a lot of house projects lately. Joel's parents were in town last weekend and they really helped us finish up some projects we had started, and fix some of the stuff we had already done ... like our paint job. Ha. Our home looks amazing now! I come home, look around, and just smile because I am so in love with how it's coming together. It's so important to us that our home reflect who we are, and after a lot of hard work it is really starting to feel just like we imagined it would. It's so exciting!

What a weekend! This weekend was jam packed and crazy. Our friends Brian and Lauren were in town and we decided to mix things up and party downtown instead of on the strip. It ended up being really fun! I forget how cool downtown Las Vegas is - and the crowd is much more laid back. I also got to catch up with an old friend from high school. We hadn't seen each other in about 5 years, so being reunited was really great! Since Saturday was such a crazy day/night, we spent our entire Sunday lying around and wasting away. It was honestly a complete waste of a day. :) We've barely even moved. Oh well though, it was worth it!

Thank God it's Friday. I won't lie, the last couple of days have been rough. I'm just hoping that bad things really do not happen in 3's, because if they do, I have two more disasters headed my way. Luckily this weekend is all about reconnecting with some old friends and hanging out with my favorite boys ... oh and some much needed retail therapy. Yaya!

I've spent a lot of time decorating our home but our master bedroom is in need of a little love. It is probably the room I have spent the least amount of time decorating. Mostly because no one else really sees the master bedroom. I know that I want our bedroom to feel comfortable and inviting. I love the idea of using a lot of neutrals and a lot of white (surprise, surprise). One of my favorite things from the pictures above are the mirrored side tables. I am obsessed with them. I also love the rustic headboard in the first picture and the amazing chandelier they paired with it. Such a great idea. Oh and please excuse my handwriting, it is not easy to write with that spray paint tool. :)
